Roulette betting - mostly luck, or..?
Roulette is a casino game that looks incredibly complex when you first look at the roulette table and wheel, but most people can play the game after only a short introduction. when you bet on roulette, that’s the complex part. There are as many roulette betting strategies out there as there are casinos, but the big roulette winners usually don’t talk about it too much. The house edge is set up on either a single zero or double zero roulette wheel. The European or single zero wheel offers the best odds for the player.
The European Roulette table has a spinning wheel with 37 slots or pockets numbered from 0 to 36. Half are red and half are black with the exception of the 0 which is green.
A ball is thrown into the spinning roulette wheel against the direction of spinning. When the ball rests in a pocket, the number on the pocket that has caught the ball wins. All pockets are identical and the order and position of numbers are arranged mathematically for even distribution by value, colour, high or low and odd or even so that the ball has an equal chance to end up in any of them.
The roulette betting table consists of two parts, the ”Inside” and the ”Outside” betting fields which serve different strategic purposes. Roulette tables have composite minimum and maximum table limits. Players are not otherwise limited in roulette betting.
Inside Bets
Straight up bet - a bet on a single number. The payoff is 35 to 1.
Split bet allows you to place a bet on two adjacent squares. The payoff is 17 to 1.
Street bet allows you to bet on a row that is three numbers. Street bets pay 11 to 1.
Line bet allows you to make two street bets - six numbers - and pays 5 to 1.
Corner bet is a situation when you place your bet on four adjacent squares. Corners pay 8 to 1.
Outside Bets
Dozens - three squares that represents outcomes from 1 to 12, 13 o 24 and 25 to 36 with a 2 to 1 payoff.
High and low - two squares for the bottom half of the numbers (1 to 18 and 19 to 35) with a 1 to 1 payoff.
Colors - two squares for red and black outcomes with a 1 to 1 payoff.
Odd and even - two squares representing odd and even outcomes respectively with a 1 to 1 payoff.
Columns - three squares that attached to the bottom of the inside table with a 2 for 1 bet.
The exotic combinations which offer better odds usually offer higher risk as well, but mathematically there are some roulette systems which are more than even money to win. However, they usually still win less than the house percentage.
Roulette is a combination of skill and luck. The luck comes due to the random spin of the wheel, with every number having an equal chance to come up up next. The strategy comes in money management, being aware of mathematics and knowing when to quit.
