Boxing is a fighting game where two combatants of the same weight battle each other using their fists in a sequence of one to three-minute durations pertained to as rounds. Triumph in boxing is attained if the other combatant is knocked down and is incapable of standing prior to being stopped by the referee or if the boxer is severely battered. If there is no immediate stoppage of the fight prior to the stated number of rounds, a winner is identified either by the umpire’s choice or through the scores of the judges.
Main objective of betting on boxing matches
The main objective of boxing betting is to establish an active market for both sides of a boxing bet, even if, even before, the assumed result of the boxing event may be in favor of one side or the other. In a boxing match, for instance, a good boxer may be lined up against a terrible boxer. People betting on the boxing match would logically bet towards the good boxer, to such an extent that there would be very limited people that would place their boxing bets on the less experienced boxer.
Strategy in Boxing Bet
- The utilization of point spread in boxing betting stabilizes the market so that there is fair number of bettors on each side of the boxing match. This enables the boxing bookmaker to establish a market, by taking boxing bets on both sides of the boxing match.
- The boxing bookmaker takes his commission and functions as a mediator for every bettor. As long as the number of bettors on each side of the boxing match is relatively fair, the boxing bookmaker does not need to be worried with the result of the boxing match; his gains instead would be the commissions he would receive.
- If a boxer in a boxing match is seriously battered and therefore cannot continue fighting, the boxing bookmaker or any organization that manages the boxing bets — may state the boxing match off-limits to bettors (by not mentioning any spread at all on it), or may “circle” the boxing match; in the latter case, lower optimal amounts for each boxing bet are implemented (basically $5,000 rather than the $25,000 limit practiced at most boxing matches ) and various specialty boxing bets, such as “teasers,” are prohibited on either side in the boxing match.
- A “teaser” is a boxing bet that changes the spread in the bettor’s advantage by an identified margin, often six points – for instance, if the line is 3.5 points and the bettor wants to put a “teaser” boxing bet on the less experienced boxer, he gets 9.5 points instead; a teaser boxing bet on the good boxer would imply that the bettor gets 2.5 points rather than having to give the 3.5.
In exchange for the extra points, the winnings if the bettor wins are less than even money. At some boxing establishments, the “reverse teaser” also applies, which changes the spread out of favor for the bettor, who gets paid off at more than even money if the bet wins.
- If Bet - “If bets” let the customer make a second bet pending a win on the first selection. “If” wagers are on call because a $110 bet will give way a $100 winning.
- Reverse Bet - Reverse boxing bets are all the time double action IF bets.
- Action Points Bet - Action Points are offered for football and basketball. Action Points are for the bettor who cannot only foresee which team will be successful, but by how many points. The said bet is from 1 to points as its maximum.
