Black jack is a combination of chance, luck and skill. Playing Blackjack needs at least two cards to win. Aces of any suit are played as either 1 or 11 while 10 up to the King are considered as ten. The object of this game is to get the number 21 using any combination of cards. if a player gets an Ace of any suit with a card with faces, this is considered Blackjack, and immediately wins the game.

Playing Blackjack

Each person or player who joins the game are handed two cards. The players have the option to ask for more cards from the dealer as long as the cards in his hand do not exceed 21. If the total of the players hand exceeds 21, his hand is considered a bust. Players can trounce the dealer if they have cards with a total of 21 or below and as long as the total of the dealer’s cards are below his. Dealers usually open one card when dealing to players, while the next card is laid face down.

If the player is satisfied with his initial two cards, he will declare a stand, which means he will not be getting any more cards from the dealer. If the player needs more cards, which is a move called a hit, he will have to signal to the dealer to add one more until he reaches 21 or just below it. If he goes more than 21, his hand is a bust.

A player may also declare surrender when he feels that his cards may not be able to go against the dealer’s hand. Some casinos do not allow this move while others do but the player usually forfeits half of his bet on Blackjack.

• Some options which come up when players get a specific combination of cards are a split or a double. A split is when the player’s two initial cards have similar values. The two cards will then be considered as two new hands and two different cards will be given to the player for each new hand. The player must also bet the same amount as his initial bet for the new hand formed.
• A double betting option is when the player feels that he needs just one card to make a winning hand. This is only allowed for the first two cards or just one hand in a split. A double bet is the same amount as the player’s initial Blackjack bet.
• Another option for blackjack betting is getting a five card Charlie. This happens when a player gets five to seven cards but still does not exceed the 21 bust limit. The player automatically wins when this occurs because it is a rare hand.
